It was like any other day in mid July here in the Old Pueblo. I was driving up Craycroft Rd. when I saw a nice chair lying in the middle of the road.
I’m not always the most servant hearted person but wanting to please my Master, I pulled off the side of the road, put on my flashers, waded out into the street, and retrieved the chair. Just as I made it to the side of the road I noticed a truck pulling up beside me. I asked them if the chair happened to belong to them and they said, “It sure does. Thank you so much for being such a good guy!”
Not wanting to waste an opportunity for the Gospel I decided to ask them about themselves after which I handed them an invitation to The Journey which also has some Scripture from John’s Gospel on the back.
LAST SUNDAY, SIX MONTHS LATER, GUESS WHO FINALLY SHOWED UP AT CHURCH?
They introduced themselves, reminded me of my act of kindness, and let me know that they finally got settled enough to make it to church on a Sunday. I don’t know where they’re at on their journey of faith but I know that they got to experience of very loving and excited group of Jesus followers and they heard the Gospel loud and clear. How cool is that! You know what I think?
MIGHT AS WELL ASK PEOPLE TO COME TO CHURCH!
It might take the better part of a year but they just might come.
Did you know that in a recent Gallup survey 82% of people who don’t attend church say they would attend if invited by a friend. Yet only 2% of Christians ever invite someone to church! OUCH!
We had better get involved serving people, sharing the love of Jesus, and sharing our church with them. Eternity is on the line!
